Ciências do Mar III ship performs its first training cruise with researchers from partner universities.

After a long period docked due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the full start of normal activities by UFF and the other universities, the research vessel Ciências do Mar III carried out the first training cruise with the presence of researchers from partner institutions. The cruise took place between September 16th and 18th and had the participation of professors and technicians from UFF, UFRJ, UERJ, UFES, IFES, UNESP and UNIFESP. At this event we also had the presence of an undergraduate student from the Geophysics course, as well as a master’s student from the Graduate Program in Ocean and Earth Dynamics, both from UFF. During the period on board, the use of geophysical equipment and onboard geological samplers were trained, water samplers and plankton nets were launched. Training activities were also carried out on board the rescue boats, aiming to assess the mobility of operations in case there is a demand to collect samples in areas too close to the coast, without jeopardizing the safety of the vessel.
